Basketball mentoring

1:1 basketball mentoring with a former professional player

One-to-one sessions with Laura Peña, a former professional player who has lived youth basketball, the Liga Femenina Endesa and the Spanish national team from the inside. Laura is not a coach: she is a mentor who supports players, mostly on the mental side and, when needed, also on the physical and technical side.

Who it is for

For any player

Age, level and category do not matter: from someone just starting out to someone competing as a professional. Each mentoring process is adapted to the person and to what they need at that moment.

If you want to talk peer to peer with someone who has lived the top level from the inside, this is your space. Laura is also open to talking with clubs and teams. If you are a parent or guardian of a minor you can write on their behalf: for players under 14 we need your consent.

How the sessions work

Each session is adapted to the person. These are the common points:

  • One-to-one sessions of about 60 minutes.
  • Online, or in person if agreed with Laura.
  • In Catalan, Spanish or English.
  • No commitment to continue: you can start with one session and decide afterwards.
  • The price and conditions are agreed directly with Laura.

Open to everyone, rooted in women's basketball

Laura supports players of any gender. Her career, however, took place in elite women's basketball: the Liga Femenina Endesa, European competition and Spain's women's national teams.

That experience gives her an especially deep understanding of the challenges female players face in that environment, and of how pressure and exposure are lived in women’s sport.

Sports mentoring, not therapy

Laura's mentoring is based on her experience as a player: listening, sharing what she has learned and helping you see your situation more clearly. Laura is not a psychologist or a qualified coach.

It is not psychological therapy and does not replace the care of psychologists or other healthcare professionals. If at any point you feel you need that kind of support, it is important to see a professional.

Online, from anywhere

Laura lives in Barcelona and sessions are mostly online, so you can work with her from any country, in Catalan, Spanish or English. In-person sessions are agreed directly with her.

Not at all. You can write even if it is something that only worries you a little, or if you simply feel like talking about it.

Not at all! You do not need to have it figured out. Putting it into words is often exactly what we work on together, so we can simply start by talking about what you are living through.

No, and it is important to be clear about that. It is a space of support in which I share what I have learned and lived as a basketball player, so you do not have to go through it alone.

Not at all! It is for any athlete, whatever their age, category or level. Pressure does not care about categories.

Laura is not a coach and does not hold a coaching qualification: she is a mentor. She supports players from her experience as a former professional player, mostly on the mental side and, when needed, also on the physical and technical side.

With both. Laura supports players of any gender. Her career took place in elite women's basketball, so she knows that environment especially well, but the mentoring is open to any athlete.

Yes. Sessions are mostly online, so you can work with Laura wherever you are, finding a time that works for both of you. If you would rather meet in person, that is agreed directly with her.

In Catalan, Spanish and English.

She has supported teams by attending training sessions and games and helping players through difficult moments. Today her focus is one-to-one sessions, mostly online, but she is open to talking with any club or team: get in touch and tell her what you need.

About 60 minutes is recommended: enough time to talk things through calmly without it becoming heavy. It can still be adapted to what you need at any given moment.

No commitment at all. You can start with one session and decide together how often you would like to continue.

The price and conditions are agreed directly with Laura. Write to her through the form, by email, WhatsApp or Instagram and she will let you know, with no commitment.
